Giant Panda Celebrates His First Birthday At Washington Zoo

Giant Panda Xiao Qi Ji (little miracle) celebrated his first birthday at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo in Washington DC, US, August 21, 2021.

This baby Panda was born during the pandemic situation on August 21, 2020 at the US National Zoo in Washington. Some says his birth same as meaning of his name “little miracle”.

Chinese Ambassador Qin Gang send a birthday message to giant panda Xiao Qi Ji by saying “You came into the world last year during the pandemic. At such a difficult time, your arrival and every bit of your growth has given us joy and hope. For us, you are a miracle. I know they care of you better than us”

Zoo Staff have provided him panda-friendly fruitsicle cakes made with frozen-diluted grape and apple juice, sweet potato, apples, pears, carrots, sugar cane, bamboo with their lots of love. Giant panda Xiao Qi Ji celebrates his first birthday with his mother Mei Xiang by eating a fruitsicle cake.
