This Man; the Awesome story began with thisman.org website, launched in September 2009 by Italian viral marketing expert Andrea Natella. According to the website description, this amazing portrait done by a mental patient of a well-known psychiatrist:
In January 2006, a patient of a well-known psychiatrist in New York drew the face of a man who had appeared repeatedly in her dreams. She said that, on several occasions the man has advised her about her personal life. The woman swears that she has never met the man in her life.
The picture was forgotten on the psychiatric table for a few days until another patient recognized the face a few days later and said that the man had visited him frequently in his dreams. He also claims that he has never seen that man in his real life. Then this psychiatrist decides to send the photo to some of his colleagues who have patients with recurrent dreams. Within a few months, four patients realize that this man appeared often in their dream. All patients used to say him as This Man.
“This Man” in their dreams
The website also insists that since January 2006, at least 2,000 people from all over the world have claimed they have seen “This Man” in their dreams, with reports coming from Los Angeles, Berlin, Sao Paulo, Tehran, Beijing, Rome, Barcelona, Stockholm, Paris, New Delhi, Moscow, etc.
From January 2006, more than 2,000 people said that they have seen him in their dreams.
Numerous explanations about “This Man” soon followed suit, some based on sociological and psychological concepts like Carl Jung’s Archetype Theory or Dream Imitation Theory, there are also others who make absurd arguments, such as man dreaming or God Himself.
What could be the reason for this? The site advances several theories, but my favorite is the “Dream Surfer” theory:
According to this theory, man is a real person who can enter into people’s dreams through specific psychological skills. Some people used to believe that the man in the dream looks like a man in real life. Others think that the man in the dream is completely different from his real life partner. Some people seem to believe that there is a mental processing plan devised by a major corporation behind this person.
Have you ever dreamed of this man comforting or helping you over the past few years? Then you are one of the thousands of people around the world who dreamed of “this man”. They also have a website to describe their experience. This man was set up to gather people who dreamed of him, according to the website:
Some said to the web; The first time I dreamed about this man, I had a hard time working. I had a dream about getting lost in a big and deserted shopping mall. Suddenly this man appeared and I started to run away from him. He followed me for about an hour until I came across a wall in the children’s area of a supermarket. At this point he smiled at me and he showed me the way to the money table and I woke up. This man has appeared in all my dreams since that night and he always advises me to wake up from my dream.
As others says, in their dream of “this man” flying with them, comforting them after a hard day, or having dinner with them or having sex with them.
It was revealed that Natella runs an advertising agency called Guerrilla Marketing, which designs subversive hoaxes and creates weird art projects that explore pornographic art, politics and advertising. Ghost House Pictures, a thriller film production company, acquired the site for a short period of time, for promotion of the film “This Man”, written and directed by American filmmaker Brian Bertino.
There is something really unpleasant about the pictures of the man and the fake stories of the people who claim to have met him. Now some say sorry to this man meme, I don’t know this man meme, this man creepypasta.. bla bla bla
